I started working a pop up cart (kiosk) for Ban.do, the accessories company I intern for this week. Its at The Grove which is an outdoor mall. The cart was slow this morning so I was spacing out when a teenage boy approached me for advice. I was thinking it was going to be something like "what should I buy my mom or which color looks best on me?" He proceeded to tell me everything that's happening between him and his girlfriend and how she wants to go on a break and not have any contact with him out of nowhere. He wanted to know what he should do, what was acceptable and what wasn't. I gave him the best advice I could, I felt so bad for the kid. It was his first relationship and well, first heartbreak. After getting my advice, he realized that it was kind of odd for him to have told me, a complete strange, all of that and got a little embarassed but I assured him it was fine.
It was so unexpected the entire time he was talking I was expecting him to yell punk! or something. I truly hope it all works out or he moves on because really he sounds like a pretty sweet guy and she not so sweet. Im not sure why he chose me or why he would go to a mall to ask anyone for advice but I guess I feel pretty happy I got to be the one he asks because I actually listened and tried to help even though I started out skeptical. A broken heart sometimes make you go a bit kooky and do weird things I guess...poor kid.
